Bachelor’s level is also known as First Cycle Undergraduate and Master’s level as Second Cycle Graduate.
Funding is awarded on a competitive basis for international students wishing to study in Sweden.
- The Swedish Institute and
- Individual Universities
The Swedish Institute is a government agency which receives funding each year to be used for scholarships for international students studying in Sweden.
Scholarships awarded by the Swedish Institute are available to international students from specific countries applying for master’s studies starting in the autumn semester.
There are no scholarships for bachelor’s studies, or for programmes that begin in the spring semester.
Swedish Universities
Scholarships are available in majority of the Swedish Universities. If you wish to apply for funding, you must apply directly to the individual university you are interested in.
Once you receive an offer letter from a University and pay the advance tuition fees deposit, you have to apply online for the student visa for Sweden through the portal of The Swedish Migration Agency. The visa procedure may take 6-8 weeks and application has to be processed accordingly.
Recent funds are acceptable in Sweden but the same are to be shown in the student’s account. However, the Consulate may ask for the source of funds in some cases.
